TAFE alliance for skills
AN ALLIANCE between business consulting and workplace training consultants Asset Capability
Management (acm) and Hunter TAFE will enable Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) to
significantly improve productivity and skill levels at their operations in the Upper Hunter.
ACM and Hunter TAFE are currently undertaking a project to help upskill and transform Hitachi's
workforce in Muswellbrook following a survey of their customers and staff.
Operations director at Hitachi, David Harvey said the survey indicated areas for improvement
and as a result Hitachi had committed to implement a program for continuous improvement in
consultation with Hunter TAFE.
"Hitachi see this as a great opportunity to continually improve our capability and deliver to
dynamic customer needs," Mr Harvey said.
ACM marketing director, Craig Hutchinson said the company specialised in providing a three
pronged approach to industry.
"In a nutshell, our approach is to realise the potential of an organisation's people,
infrastructure and processes to enable them to achieve operational excellence.
"Our first step is to conduct research by interviewing customers, talking to employees and
reviewing operational practices.
As a result of the investigation, Hunter TAFE will provide a comprehensive and tailored
training to address the competency gaps identified by ACM.
